William J. Bologna has been granted more than 50 patents covering new drug delivery systems, unique pharmaceutical compositions, and methods for treating women’s health disorders such as endometriosis, infertility, premature labor, dysmenorrhea, and vaginal infections, among other conditions. William J. Bologna co-founded one of the first publicly traded women’s health companies in the United States and went on to invent, develop, and license market-leading products sold in more than 100 countries for the treatment of infertility and disorders of women’s health, including Crinone®, Replens®, RepHresh®, Striant®, and Advantage-S. William J. Bologna co-founded Nasdaq-listed Columbia Laboratories (sold to Catalant) in 1986 and during his tenure, the company was granted more than 50 patents and regulatory approval to sell its products in over 100 countries. Crinone®, Columbia”s lead infertility product, is now marketed by Merck Serono KGmBH, Darmstadt, Germany, in virtually every major country in the world and is still the only product approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use within the first trimester of pregnancy. As Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer, Mr. Bologna supervised the company’s regulatory affairs, product development, clinical development, manufacturing, and quality control. In addition, Mr. Bologna founded a medical publishing, consulting, marketing, and advertising company, Bologna International, in 1980, which provided services to multinational pharmaceutical companies.
